WHAT IS
CONSUMER DIRECTED SERVICES?
Consumer Directed Services (CDS) is a Medicaid-funded home and community-based service program administered by the Missouri Division of Health and Senior Services (DHSS).
The Program permits elderly or disabled Medicaid-eligible people over the age of 18 to hire a friend or relative to be their caregivers (except their legal guardians and spouses), to help with daily activities, allowing them to receive care in the comfort of their homes.
CDS aims to help people live independently
and receive reliable care from people they trust.
CDS provides eligible people with assistance
in the following areas
but are not limited to:
- Meal preparation / feeding
- Taking medications on time
- Bathing
- Dressing
- Grooming
- Toileting
- Housekeeping
- Laundry
- Running errands or appointments
- Mobility
HOW IT WORKS
STEP 01
CONTACT US
If you meet the minimum requirements, contact us at 816-643-3080, and our CDS Specialist will help you determine your eligibility and start the enrollment and referral process.
STEP 02
GET ASSESSED
The Division of Senior and Disability Services (DSDS) receives the referral paperwork and will contact you to schedule your assessment.
STEP 03
CARE PLAN DISCUSSION
We schedule meeting to discuss the program and complete the paperwork to start the services.
STEP 04
SELECT A CAREGIVER
Recruit, hire, and train the people you want to employ as home care workers. We will process payroll and issue biweekly paychecks to your caregiver.

Established in 2009, TWA Consumer Directed Services (TWA CDS) has been providing compassionate personal care services to Missourian families
for over 15 years. We work closely with the
Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS)
to provide Consumer Directed Services (CDS) to elderly and disabled individuals eligible for
public Medicaid assistance throughout Missouri.
Our role is to help you manage the employment of your selected support workers. We assist in hiring, training and processing payroll for your chosen personal care assistant. We also help with other support activities, such as creating emergency backup plans, conducting criminal background checks, and helping find non-family workers if needed.
We aim to support older people and disabled individuals to maintain their independence
in the safety of their own homes.
